ABOUT US

Mō mātou

ScreenSafe was established in July 2015 to support and promote Health and Safety in the New Zealand Screen Sector. Our initial focus is updating the existing Code of Practice to create a set of NZ Screen Sector Health & Safety Guidelines and to interpret the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 which came into effect from 4th April 2016.

An initiative of The Screen Industry Guild, ScreenSafe is an industry-wide collaborative effort with backing from the NZFC, NZ On Air and SPADA along with other guilds, industry bodies and regional film offices.

As part of this piece of work, ScreenSafe has engaged Minter Ellison Rudd Watts to provide legal guidance on the interpretation of the Act. Useful general information about the Act can be found here.

Updates will be provided as further guidance is added to the existing resources already available on this website.

ScreenSafe is not a hotline for specific Health & Safety issues or concerns, please direct these to your Health & Safety representative or WorkSafe

In the event of a Health & Safety incident ScreenSafe recommends contacting your H&S representative on set or if you wish to discuss concerns outside of a Production then please contact WorkSafe in the first instance.
